St. Simon the Apostle is Hiring a Director of Operations Near St. Louis, MO

St. Simon the Apostle in South St. Louis County is actively looking for a dynamic business manager. St. Simon, established in 1959, serves over 1,600 families. Our campus consists of the following facilities: St. Simon Church (built in 2002); Catholic School (K-8); Simon Says Pre-School/Daycare Center, Parish Hall, and athletic fields. The business manager is a full time, salaried, administrator reporting directly to the Pastor and is a steward of the physical, financial and personnel resources of the Parish, while also providing leadership and consultation among the Parish’s various groups, committees, and processes. Since this position is a visible representative of the Catholic Church, it is necessary that the incumbent be a practicing Catholic, registered, and active in a Catholic parish, and embrace in word and deed the Church’s teachings on faith and morals as articulated by the Church’s magisterium.

Business Manager Performance Responsibilities:

Administrative/Personnel Responsibilities:

  • Supervises parish office staff, financial staff, and maintenance staff.
  • Oversees the administration of all employee salaries and benefit programs.
  • Oversees all workers compensation claims and any other insurance related issues.
  • Oversees the postings of all new job openings for Parish.
  • Point person for Archdiocese human resource issues.
  • Generates all teacher contracts and preschool term sheets.
  • Participates in the hiring and termination policies of the Parish in collaboration with the Pastor if so designated.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Establishes/implements Parish financial goals/objectives in conjunction with Pastor and Finance Council.
  • Reviews all: Journal entries, Vendor invoices and payments, All bank reconciliations, and Deposits, the recording of all investment activities through Arch SLAF accounts, all accounts receivable invoicing credits, reconciliation of contributions in Servant Keeper to QuickBooks reconciliation of Pro-Care to QuickBooks, balance Sheet & Income Statement accounts each month, month-end analysis on expense variances related to actual vs. budget.
  • Manages/maximizes cash flow and Prepares annual Parish budget.
  • Collaborates in development/adherence with other staff administrators on annual budgets for School, Pre-School, PSR, and Youth Ministry.
  • Gathers organizational budgets with assistance from Finance Council.
  • Enforces policies and procedures in partnership with the Pastor for all activities related to finance and human resources management.
  • Enforces internal controls for all accounting activity in the Parish office and for all fundraising activities on St. Simon the Apostle’s campus using Archdiocesan guidelines.
  • Prepare required year-end Archdiocesan reports: internal questionnaire, year-end journal entries, etc.
  • Submit recommendations to Pastor & Finance Council for use and investments of funds.
  • Attend monthly Finance Council meetings.

Operations/Facilities Management Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all campus facility operations including capital expenditure projects.
  • Reviews bids and negotiations for capital expenditure projects in collaboration with the Pastor, maintenance staff, and Finance Council.
  • Monitors preventive maintenance program for entire campus security systems.
  • Coordinates security measures to protect property and personnel.
  • Determines responsibility for key fob issuance.
  • Oversees IT and Technology partners.

School/Pre-School Enrollment/Tuition Management:

  • Oversees and is an administrator for tuition/enrollment management system.
  • Oversees and manages tuition collection/ payment issues with school parents.
  • Oversees and executes all tuition assistance grants for presentation to Finance Council.
  • Oversees and manages FACTS tuition management to ensure proper balances of tuition accounts.
  • Serves as point for families with inquiries about tuition accounts and processing of fees.
  • Backup for billing and assists with any questions for Pro-Care early childhood daycare billing system.
  • Ensures timing and correct accounting for the billing of all daycare families with Pro-Care billing system.
  • Manages Today and Tomorrow Educational grants in accordance with TTEF’s guidelines.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • In addition to the above responsibility’s others may be added as the Pastor may designate from time to time for more efficient parish management.
  • Protects job knowledge and keeps sensitive information confidential.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with and lead team setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree required in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • 5 to 10 years of business experience, 3-5 years of supervisory experience in related field.
  • Previous experience in facilities management preferred.
  • Must be technology savvy and proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft, and Google applications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
