Position: Building & Grounds Maintenance Worker

St. Rose of Lima Church, located in Murfreesboro, TN, is a growing parish with a talented and energetic staff serving over 3000 families. We are seeking a General Maintenance Worker. This position is full-time with an afternoon/evening schedule and may require some weekend work, working 37 1/2 hours per week.

The General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. Primary functions are to process facility work orders as documented by ministry and parish leaders, inspect & identify equipment or machines in need of repair, troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs, plan repair work, perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technicians (i.e. repairing drywall, painting, repairing doors and other building fixtures), performing routine maintenance on building systems, assist with cleanliness & upkeep of the facilities, ordering or obtaining materials needed for repairs and maintenance, coordinating repairs and projects within facility schedule and interdepartmentally in order to minimize disruption to school and parish functions, aid in maintaining building security, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School diploma or equivalent required

2. Knowledge of general carpentry & repair

3. Ability to use hand tools and power tools

4. Related experience preferred

5. Bilingual English-Spanish preferred

6. Excellent organizational and time management skills

2. Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance worker

3. Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with pastor, staff, volunteers, and parishioners

4. Self-motivated, trustworthy steward of parish resources

5. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize while performing accurate, detailed work

6. Excellent organizational and time management skills

7. Successful completion of parish Safe Environment program

8. Use of computers including internet, email, security & fire systems, and Microsoft Office products & Google Workspace Applications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

1. Prolonged periods standing and walking.

2. Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.

3. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Supervision: 

The Building & Grounds Maintenance Worker reports to Facilities Manager and the Pastor of St. Rose Catholic Church.

Work expectations and Compensation:

37.5 hours per week
