St. Rita of Cascia High School, an Augustinian, Catholic College Preparatory School, founded in 1905 on the Southside of Chicago, is currently seeking a full-time Latin Teacher for the 2024-25 School Year. The ideal candidate will have proven success teaching Latin at the high school level. Must enjoy students across the entire range of grades (9-12) and have the versatility to teach all levels of the high school curriculum. We are seeking a dedicated educator who can bring the ancient language and culture of Rome to life for our students.

Responsibilities:

• Teach Latin language and literature - ranging from introductory to advanced levels.
• Develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.
• Foster an appreciation for Roman culture, history, and mythology through creative teaching methods and experiential learning activities.
• Provide constructive feedback to students to support their language acquisition and academic growth.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Latin or Classics - Master’s degree preferred.
• Possess Professional Educators License
• Experience teaching Latin at the high school level, with a strong understanding of language pedagogy and proficiency-based instruction.
• Knowledge of classical literature, history, and culture, with the ability to make connections to contemporary issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
