Position: Children and Family Ministries Director

Hours: 25 hrs

Salary: $30,000

Reports To: Staff-Parish Relations Committee and Senior Pastor

Position Summary: The Children and Family Ministries Director will develop and nurture a ministry for all types of families, striving to guide, nurture, and support all people as they grow as Christian disciples. The director must pay attention to family circumstances, understand the home as a setting for spiritual formation, and provide relevant and intentional ministry for all families through the church and in the community. The Director will utilize existing ministries, and look for opportunities to grow and expand our children’s and family ministry. They will strive to grow St. Paul’s community of faith.

Qualifications:

• The director should have a passion for children’s ministry and a desire to work closely with children and their families.
• This ministry director benefits from having one or more of these spiritual gifts: servanthood, teaching, encouragement, and leadership.
• Useful skills for this position are strong communication skills, the ability to listen to and communicate well with children and their guardians, as well as the ability to work with other ministry leaders, and the ability to delegate responsibility and follow up to complete tasks.
• This leader should show genuine interest in responding to the hopes and concerns of all families in the community so that all family units are affirmed and ministry is launched for the transformation of the community.

Responsibilities:

• The director will maintain a healthy and growing spiritual life and will lead other teachers and leaders to do the same.
• The director is in charge of maintaining and expounding on the existing Children’s ministry programs: Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, etc.
• The director will be in charge of organizing and maintaining the resource room and children’s ministry rooms.
• The director will research and choose the appropriate curriculum for various children’s ministry programs.
• The director will build relationships with family units and be an advocate for all kinds of families, educating families with resources for Christian living.
• The director is in charge of scheduling, recruiting, training, and screening volunteers for Children’s ministry programs.
• The director of family ministry will be attentive to the hopes, concerns, and needs of families of all configurations in the community to determine how the congregation might serve them and how they might serve one another as Christian disciples and good neighbors.
• The director needs to be familiar with the congregation’s overall goals and how they are achieved through the congregation’s ministry with families.
• This leader will work with others to plan and carry out ministry with families in a varied and wide-ranging program that includes worship, study, fellowship, and service opportunities.

Vacation: Two weeks of paid vacation can be taken annually after one year of

service, three weeks annually after five years of service and four weeks

annually after ten years of service.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30,000.00 per year

• High school or equivalent (Required)
