A position is open for a teacher to teach our Middle School Math classes for the 2024-2025 academic school year. This person will team with a collaborative, hard-working, and experienced group of educators at St. Michael. With the addition of this position, the school will have two dynamic teachers to lead and develop our Middle School Math Program. Depending on the finalist, there is also a potential to partner with our other math teacher to co-teach in certain sections. As a teacher at St. Michael, you will feel welcomed and supported by our school and parish communities as we work together to make 2024-2025 an academic year rich in joy and faith.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver thoughtful and effective lessons that engage students in meaningful learning appropriate for Middle School Math, while recognizing individual learning needs. Mainstream classes typically range from 15-20 students.
• Plan, prepare and deliver effective lessons to students needing remedial support or gifted services. These classes may range from 3-10 students.
• Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning which supports St. Michael’s mission and provides optimal learning opportunities.
• Maintain an open line of communication with parents, students, colleagues, principal and all stakeholders of St. Michael School around academics, behavior, safety, and school events.
• Collaborate with colleagues in grade level departments and throughout school to develop and implement positive behavior expectations and relationships.
• Contribute to faith community of school through personal modeling and active participation, such as conducting prayer, participation in religious celebrations, and teaching Catholic values through word and example.
• Maintain appropriate and safe conduct in the classroom and throughout the campus ensuring student safety and supervision at all times.
• Be present, ready to work and on time to meet all schedules and responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Proven working experience as a teacher or educational assistant.
• Ability to plan and implement lessons with a focus on content that is aligned with the MN Academic Standards in Mathematics.
• Ability to assess for progress and identify areas where further learning is needed.
• Comfort with the use of a variety of activities and instructional methods to encourage children’s interests and motivation for learning.
• Strong ability to supervise children actively, monitor for potential injuries and to ensure safety through a range of activities throughout the day.
• Successful completion of background check and VIRTUS certification.

St. Michael Catholic School is located in downtown Prior Lake, about 20 minutes from Bloomington and Burnsville.
