St. Matthew Church and School is Hiring a School Secretary Near Bellevue, NE

St. Matthew Catholic School is in search of a versatile individual to fulfill the role of School Secretary/Receptionist. This integral position involves providing indispensable support to the principal and ensuring the smooth operation of the school. As a School Secretary/Receptionist, you will handle various administrative tasks while also serving as the primary point of contact for visitors, parents, and students.

This position follows the school calendar, forty (40) hours per week during the school year, with the exception of breaks; Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break. Summer hours are approx. 20 hours per week with some flexibilty.

Responsibilities:

● Welcome visitors warmly and provide assistance as the receptionist.

● Manage incoming calls efficiently, demonstrating strong secretary skills in communication and organization.

● Maintain accurate and confidential student records, a critical responsibility of the secretary.

● Assist in scheduling meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events, utilizing secretary expertise in coordination and planning.

● Support communication efforts by preparing and distributing school announcements and newsletters, showcasing proficient secretary skills.

● Perform general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and data entry, highlighting secretary proficiency in office management.

● Provide basic first aid and administer medications to students as needed, demonstrating the secretary's dedication to student welfare.

● Collaborate closely with teachers and administrators to address student and family needs, showcasing teamwork and communication skills in both secretary and receptionist roles.

● Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality in all matters, upholding the secretary's trusted role in the school community.

● Fulfill any additional duties as assigned, adapting to the dynamic needs of the school environment.

Skills and Traits:

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effective interaction in both secretary and receptionist roles.

● Organizational abilities and attention to detail, crucial for maintaining accurate records and executing administrative tasks.

● Proficiency in business email and phone etiquette, central to managing communication channels.

● Familiarity with Sycamore, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google applications

● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, integral to success in both secretary and receptionist positions.

● Dedication to promoting moral and ethical values among students and colleagues, integral to the secretary's role in a school community.

Experience and Education:

● Completion of an archdiocesan background check and Safe Environment training.

● Previous experience in secretary and receptionist roles preferred, demonstrating familiarity with the unique demands of the school environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.50 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
