The mission of the Catholic Church of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In the faithful pursuit of this mission, St. Mary's Parish in Rockville Maryland is seeking a Director of Religious Education. This role designs and directs the comprehensive religious education program for adults, teens and children and reports to the Pastor.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinates the Sacramental program with Parish School
• Supervises other religious education personnel.
• Recruits and trains volunteers.
• Evaluates program curricula and acts as parish resource person in methods and some areas of Theology
• Responsible for developing a budget for Religious Education Program
• Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor
• Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.
• Able to maintain a positive attitude while providing exemplary customer service.
• Excellent listener.

Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in Catholic Theology or religious education experience.
• Experience conducting online classes and activities for individuals and groups.
• Experience with administrative functions (budgeting, scheduling, institutional relationships)
• Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
