Job Summary: The Clinical Nutrition Coordinator serves as the primary representative in patient care nutritional activities. These include providing direction and guidance for an overall clinical nutrition services program, assisting in the development of long range strategic plans, establishing the highest caliber standards of care. Responsible and has authority for maintaining a qualified clinical staff by involvement in recruitment, interviews, hiring, and clinical staff development. Will establish policies and procedures to ensure compliance to regulatory agencies, and maintaining effective communication with other departmental managers and interdepartmental liaisons. The clinical coordinator will direct the continuous quality improvement program, and the nutrition sub-committee. The clinical manager will work together with the employees of the department to provide optimal and nutritional services to the patients to ensure the healing and well-being of each individual. The Clinical Nutrition Coordinator, will also be able to perform nutrition assessments, develops and implements nutrition care plans, monitor response to therapeutic diet/support and participates in patient and staff education. He/ she follows departmental policies and procedures to provide nutrition care in a timely manner. He/ she also communicates with patients and families, medical staff, nursing staff and other health care professionals to assure patients care needs are met. Clinical Coordinator will ensure that we have a current and up to date Nutrition Care Manual.
Qualifications:
A. Licensure/ Certification/ Registration: •Current Commission on Dietetic Registration •Current State Certified Dietitian •Current Salt Lake County Food handlers Permit or ServSafe certificate provided within the first week of orientation.
B. Education: A B.S., B.A. or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics is required.
C. Experience: Prefer a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a clinical dietitian or food service manager in an acute care facility.
D. Special Qualifications: The Clinical Nutrition Coordinator is required to have skills and knowledge in the following areas of practice: Nutrition Support, OB/GYN, Cardiology, General Medicine, Oncology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Skilled Nursing Facility needs. The Clinical Nutrition Coordinator is also required to have Knowledge in menu modification, food service, and food safety. Must show good judgment and reliability, strong planning, organizing managing, time management and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work effectively under pressure to meet established goals and objectives, and have professional and personal integrity.
