The Director of Operations is responsible for the operational performance of the assigned business lines. Operational responsibility includes overall strategic planning, day to day operations, marketing, customer service, quality programs and outcomes reporting, finances, incentive management, and business growth for network operations. The Director understands the importance of their department to the hospital and facilitates a successful relationship in terms of clinical and quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and management of expenses/revenues. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the daily operations of all practices under the Service Line. Oversees an operational team that assists with the delivery of operational initiatives. Focuses on improving the patient experience within given business lines. Creates operational efficiencies with given business lines. Maintain/Develop a cost efficient, growth orientated, and functionally aligned organizational structure. Focus on patient acquisition and care delivery, inclusive of care delivery of providers and programs. Facilitates the development of services through coordination, growth, strategic planning and marketing initiatives with appropriate entities. Cultivates, coordinates, coaches and supports operations and the leadership teams in collaboration with physician leadership. Partners with physician leadership to maintain and build new internal and external physician relationships. Responsible for the day to day oversight of designated departments. Develops and implements ongoing quality and operational process improvements through the demonstration of quantifiable clinical and operational outcomes, safety management and operational efficiency. Develops quality improvement initiatives focusing on resource utilization, clinical standards, operational efficiency, and implementation of new services. Functions as the liaison with other St. Luke’s Hospital & Health Network departments/entities such as Nursing, Human Resources, Purchasing, Engineering, Emergency Department, SLPG, Pharmacy, PAC, Clinical Laboratory, Communications, Marketing, etc. Oversees all aspects and management of the departments assigned. Prepares and manages operational and capital budgets. Facilitates timely and accurate payment of day-to-day expenses in conjunction with operations and physician office staff. Continually reviews and makes recommendations regarding actions to reduce overhead expenses. Develops monthly reports to track and monitor key performance factors, growth of practice and efficiencies of processes. Performs annual performance review of assigned staff Conducts/supervises customer service initiatives/activities, including the coordination of response to complaints (patients, families, staff and/or physicians). Functions as a professional role model and resource person providing guidance to staff (support and physician). Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation with in services and/or continuing education program. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Standing and walking six hours per day, up to two hours sitting at a time. Frequently uses fingers for typing, data entry, etc. Frequently uses hands. Occasionally uses upper extremities to lift up to 20 pounds, sometimes heavier. Very often stoops, bends and reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required and Masters Degree preferred. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Three years of practice management experience or in a leadership role in large practice required. Experience with medical office procedures and management, knowledge of medical terminology and medications frequently prescribed by physicians, electronic health records, and medical practice billing preferred.
