The Clinical Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for assisting in planning, directing, and coordinating operational and personnel activities to ensure the provision of quality services to meet the needs of those served by their area of responsibility and scope of role. Leadership is provided based on the Saint Lukes mission, vision, and values. The role includes ongoing collaboration and communication utilizing shared goal setting and decision making with the Clinical Nutrition Manager, department staff, nutrition leaders, and multidisciplinary team members. The supervisor assists in the development and implementation of operational plans. In addition, the supervisor must be able to perform the duties of a clinical dietitian, utilizing the Nutrition Care Process as Medical Nutrition Therapy is provided to patients.
Responsible and accountable for department operations, fiscal/financial management, quality, service, environment of care/safety, risk management, and human resource management. The supervisor oversees operations of the Registered Dietitians in the inpatient and some outpatient settings and serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary management team. Communication, organizational, and human relation skills are required in addition to decision-making and judgment capabilities. Duties include planning and implementation of policies and systems, staffing and workload management, support of nutrition and clinical nutrition department initiatives, process improvement projects, and staff recruitment.
