Overview

St. Luke's Health System in Boise is seeking a full-time Nurse Navigator to join our Patient Support Oncology team! This position is a unique opportunity to join a state-of-the-art facility with a warm, family feeling.

Position Summary

The Nurse Navigator assesses barriers to oncology care and offers support, coordination, guidance and education for patients and families with a new diagnosis of cancer. The nurse navigator will work closely with our providers, primary RNs, and scheduling team. This role is embedded in the Boise medical oncology team. The medical oncology navigator will focus on navigating patients with solid tumor diagnosis. This is a new role on our team. We are searching for a dynamic, oncology experienced, individual looking to be a partner in expanding our navigation program. This role will initially support Boise only, however, the role may expand in the future.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0800-1630.

Responsibilities

The Nurse Navigator offers medical guidance, acts as a support group, and guides patients and their families through the treatment process.

  • Serve as a single point of contact for patients undergoing treatment
  • Serve as a liaison between the patient and their family and the patient's network of care providers
  • Educate patient on diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis
  • Assist the patient in scheduling appointments, completing paperwork, or securing referrals
  • Facilitate short term and/or long term interventions
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of subject matter
  • Handle complex issues and problems, and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education: Nursing Degree
  • Experience: Two (2) years of RN experience
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current RN License in the State of Practice
  • Preferred: Oncology experience and/or OCN
