St. Luke Small Miracles Day School is hiring a float/after school teacher. At this time our after school program will be serving children 6weeks to 5 years. Hours are Monday-Friday 10:30am to 5:30pm. Must be over 18, possess a high school diploma and pass a background check. A teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to care for them effectively include dependability, being well spoken and presented, and having a relationship with Jesus Christ. The purpose of St. Luke UMC Small Miracles Day School is to support families and children by providing care, Christian education, and growth opportunities for children and by providing a program of ministry and outreach to the families of the children.

Responsibilities

• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach and care for children
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
• Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
• Collaborate with other educators
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Skills

• Proven experience in a child care setting
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Excellent communication and instructional skills
• Ability to act as mediator between children
• Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
• Certification in child CPR

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $9.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
