The Librarian assists in maintaining library services and establishing policies and procedures. Performs professional and some technical tasks to support library functions. Acts as School of Nursing liaison and library computer resource person.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists in evaluating library services and user needs.
2. Acts as liaison to the School of Nursing.
3. Provides reference services.
4. Provided bibliographic instruction
5. Supervises library personnel in absence of Library Director
6. Assists in preparation of library budget
7. Supervises inventories
8. Orients new students, nursing faculty, employees, etc.
9. Selects materials for library collection.
10. Catalogs library and departmental materials.
11. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
12. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements. 
13. Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external). 
14. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety. 
15. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices. 
16. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.

17. Other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting up to 7 hours per day in 4-hour increments. Standing up to 1 hour per day in 30-minute increments. Walking up to 1 hour per day in 15-minute increments. Frequent use of fingers and hands for typing/filing and firm grasping. Frequent twisting/turning of hands and body. Frequent stooping/bending and reaching above shoulder level. Uses upper body extremities to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Occasional carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of 16-40 pounds. Occasional climbing and crouching. Sense of touch as it relates to typing and filing. Seeing as it relates to general, far, near and peripheral vision and visual monotony. Depth perception. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation.

EDUCATION:

B.S. in Library Science. Master's Degree in Library Science preferred

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

One year library experience. Working knowledge of computer hardware and software.
