Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant (36 hrs/week) (Pain Center)
FT Day Shift -
36 hours/week

St. Luke’s Hospital has a new opportunity for an experienced Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant at our Pain Center! Our hospital is one of very few critical access hospitals in the country that earned 5-Stars in patient satisfaction from CMS in 2020 and we need YOU to help us get to the next level! In this role, you will be part of a progressive team dedicated to advancing the goals of the hospital, meeting the needs of our rural community, and providing outstanding care to our patients. Essential Functions include but not limited to:
  • Patient exam rooms are maintained in a neat and orderly manner with the supplies adequately stocked. Phones are answered in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to learn new and different processes throughout the office.
  • Assist with patient flow by getting patients in rooms, prepares patient for physical exam, taking initial history or new problem worksheet. Takes and records vital signs any updates to allergy list, reviews and records medication list. Also assisting the provider by updating recommendations in the system.
  • Backs up and assist teammates when necessary, making sure patient care is prompt and accurate.
  • Assists or performs wound care, dressing changes, suture removal. Knowledgeable of each procedure performed having necessary equipment and paperwork completed when the provider is ready to begin. Draws up meds and preps patients for injection given by the provider.
  • Check EMR system and/or encounters for referrals, orders, task and special instruction from the provider. Each MA will be responsible for keeping the Clinical Task updated for appropriate provider. Will work with patients concerning the patient portal and messages sent to the providers.
  • Demonstrates adequate knowledge of normal & abnormal anatomy/physiology of disease entities seen in the Physician office. Using good communication skills either oral or written, listening and customer service skills with patients as well as provider(s).
  • Prescription refills are checked and completed on a daily basis.
  • Maintains and updates EMR as required by the practice. Not only by internal notes and messages but also by scanning any necessary paperwork.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include but not limited to:
  • High school graduate or equivalent. A healthcare background is preferred.
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to handle difficult patients and situations in a professional manner.
  • Must be flexible in handling new and changing policies and procedures.
  • Must read, speak and write English well and have basic computer (keyboard) knowledge. Spanish language encouraged but not required.
  • If the employee is a CMA or RMA, CPR is required. The CMA desiring to maintain certification must also be responsible to schedule a CMA/RMA workday at the hospital annually and complete the annual CMA/RMA competencies in order for a hospital employed manager to sign off on the state CMA/RMA recertification form.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform blood withdrawal procedures on Pediatrics, toddlers, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in accordance with policy and procedures in effect.
  • Operating knowledge of the following equipment: Copier, fax, printer, scanner, computer keyboard and mouse, multi-line phone, and necessary family care equipment and monitors.
  • Knowledgeable in performing required station checks and documentations as per policy and procedure guidelines.
