Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The Medical Physicist, in collaboration with, and under the medical direction of the Radiation Oncologist, engages in treatment planning, research and development, policy drafting, patient and physician liaison, equipment commissioning, training, lecturing, and monitoring health and safety regulations for the facility's radiation therapy services.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: Master of Science or Ph.D. in medical physics.
    • Experience: N/A
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Board certified in medical physics by the American Board of Radiology and/or the American Board of Medical Physics.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Knowledge of radiation safety principles, Universal Precautions, generally accepted quality control practices for radiation services. Team oriented, skilled in communicating both verbally and in writing. Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with other medical personnel. Ability to advise and teach technical staff. Ability to demonstrate positive customer relations and present a professional image. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Ability to perform computer functions associated with radiation therapy equipment. Ability to write legibly, see, hear, read, and speak English.
    • READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
    • WRITING - Advanced: Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
    • SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Advanced: Ability to comprehend and apply advanced mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.
    • REASONING ABILITY - Advanced Skills: Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
