About Us The St. Louis Jewish Community Center (the J) has been providing excellent health and cultural experiences for the entire community for over 140 years. We are hiring for a Meals on Wheels Program Manager to join our team! 

Summary:

The Aging Ahead Program Manager is responsible for the overall operations and administration of the Meals on Wheels program. This includes ensuring all food production, deliveries, services and paperwork for the program and overall kitchen meeting the highest standards. The Manager coordinates closely with the staff in Early Childhood (EC), Adult Day (AD) Aging Ahead (AA), Day camp and internal and external catering customers to ensure their needs are met and provides administrative support. In addition, the Manager is accountable for ensuring the department meets all safety and cleanliness standards, provides excellent customer service, and meets Meals on Wheels/Aging Ahead goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of the Aging Ahead program including home visits and data entry into Aging Ahead software program, Innovated Data System (IDS), as required.
  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise all concession stand workers and ensure concession stand runs efficiently and effectively. 
  • Support Kitchen J Head Chef to ensure semi-monthly payroll and time off requests are approved on time.
  • Coordinates with Head Chef, JCC internal staff, committees, and external clients to ensure all front of house needs for catering events meet the standards of our customers. Manager is responsible for documenting communications with customers through bids, menus and invoicing to set expectations and provide all front of the house services for internal and external catering events. 
  • Following Accounting Department procedures, invoice customers for Kitchen J/613 Catering and Aging Ahead services in a timely manner and ensure payment is collected. Prepare interdepartmental line transfer/charges at month end and submit to Accounting. Process incoming payments and reimbursements, and along with deposit form, submit to Accounting and Aging Ahead.
  • Responsible for developing the annual Aging Ahead budget and meeting all financial goals with the support of the Head Chef. This includes reviewing departmental financial statements to ensure accuracy of credits and debits submitted for Kitchen J/613 Catering and Aging Ahead.
  • Prepare final menus for all food programs in collaboration with the Head Chef. Distribute menus to designated recipients (EC, ADJ, AA, Kitchen J Staff, Marketing Department for J website, Jewish Light, Jewish in St. Louis website, etc.) according to the identified schedule which may be weekly, monthly, quarterly.
  • Manage the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) for the J to ensure all regulations are met and reimbursements are received. 
  • Responsible for maintaining all files, statistics and records to ensure audit requirements are met for EC, ADJ, AA, Plus Lunch, and Catering. Prepare and send reports as needed for grant and compliance needs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain regular training schedules to comply with Federal, State, and local governing bodies with assistance from the Head Chef.
  • Responsible for the growth of Aging Ahead/Meals on Wheels. Ensure appropriate margins and quality standards are met.
  • Provide back-up support to all kitchen staff as needed.
  • Ensure the adherence to Kashruth Jewish Dietary laws in kitchen, storage and serving areas. Fully cooperate with all VAAD requests.
  • Provide support to ensure Occupational Safety and Health Act, local health and safety codes, and agency safety and security policies are met. 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required; College Degree is preferred.
  • Experience managing program is desired.
  • Experience in food production or kitchen environment is preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior accounts receivable or accounts payable experience is desired.
  • Must be able to multi task, manage changing priorities, and be very organized.
  • Able to bend and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds, work seated at a desk, move throughout the buildings.

Kitchen J staff are required to have Hepatitis A vaccines (provided if necessary) and may be required to register on the MO Family Care Safety Registry. Employees are subject to pre-employment background screenings and if driving, physical and drug test. Drivers of agency vehicles are part of our random drug testing pool.
