St. Louis Academy, Besancon is Hiring a St. Louis Academy, Besancon - Director of Special Education (New Haven, IN) Near New Haven, IN

Under the direction and supervision of the parish pastor and school principal, the Director of Special Education at St. Louis Academy is responsible for developing and maintaining all special education programming for all students with behavioral and/or learning plans, in compliance with all local, state and federal laws also serving as a resource to school personnel, and working in collaboration with the Special Education Instructor of East Allen County Schools, to ensure all special education services are completed according to required timelines.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership, vision and knowledge to the education department.
  • Stays current with special education laws, compliance, requirements and resources.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and support staff.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with public school personnel.
  • Develops and monitors the ISP and CAP process in the school and adjusts as needed.
  • Oversight of the CAP and ISP process for the school.
  • Problem solves with teachers and families as needed. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with teachers, staff, and families.
  • Stays current with research in the field of special education.
  • Facilitates necessary/regular meetings with principal, teachers and support staff.
  • Comfortable with a variety of technology: Zoom, Teams, Microsoft, Google and others.
  • Assist in organizing and overseeing support staff assigned to work with students with exceptionalities.
  • May be asked to participate in the hiring process of classroom support staff.
  • All other duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.
  • Valid special education teaching license.
  • Minimally three years of successful teaching and administrative experience in the area of special education.
  • Knowledge of special education practices and special education law and requirements.
  • Communicate effectively and accurately, both written and oral.
  • Effective supervisory and coaching skills.
  • Work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively with others.
  • Candidates must be able to walk up and down stairs and move freely across our multi-building campus.
