St. Landry Parish School Board is Hiring a Pre-Kindergarten Instructional Coach Near Opelousas, LA

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
U.S. Citizen or authorized alien.
Must pass a criminal background investigation.
Baccalaureate or Advanced Degree
Five years of successful teaching experience (as defined by CLASS Observation Rating: Highly Proficient 5.25x) in early childhood education.
Must have computer database skills for assigned data entry.
Within sixty (60) days of employment, must obtain certification as a Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS0 observer.
REPORTS TO: Director of Early Learning Programs
JOB SUMMARY:
The Pre-Kindergarten Coach shall implement a research-based, coordinated coaching strategy for all Pre-Kingergarten education staff, and in addition, the Coach shall have the following performance responsibilities and essential job functions:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assesses all education staff to identify strengths, areas of needed support, and which staff would benefit most from intensive coaching.
Provides opportunities for intensive coaching to those education staff identified through the assessment process, including opportunities to be observed and receive feedback and modeling of effective teacher practices directly related to program performance goals.
Provides opportunities for education staff not identified for intensive coaching through the assessment process to receive other forms of research-based professional development aligned with program performance goals.
Ensures intensive coaching opportunities are provided for the staff identified through the assessment process that align with the program's school readiness goals, curricula, and other approaches to professional development.
Provides for ongoing communication with the Director, of Early Learning, Education Manager, and any other relevant staff, keeping them apprised of coaching efforts, pitfalls, and results.
Includes clearly articulated goals as informed by and described in the Pre-Kindergarten Program Performance Standards, and a process for achieving those goals.
Establishes policies that ensure assessment results are not used to solely determine punitive actions for staff identified as needing support, without providing time and resources for staff to improve.
Partners with external early childhood education professional development experts, when needed, to support staff professional development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Makes regular, periodic, on site monitoring visits to all Pre-Kindergarten classrooms.
Becomes reliable in the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and reviews result of observations to assess the quality of teacher-child interactions and the need for coaching.
Maintains clear documentation of all coachng implementation from the time of assessment of needs to the coahcing services provided.
Maintains confidentiality of data obtained on assessed needs, and shares the data with only staff who "need to know".
Plans and implements effective staff development plans with the Director of Early Learning based on coaching assessments and follow-up coaching.
Assesses classroom facilities, instructional materials, and equipment needs, as related to staff development and performance improvement and reports needs to Director of Early Learning.
Monitors Pre-Kindergarten classrooms routinely for health, safety, fire, and licensing violations, and make recommendations to the Director of Early Learning for necessary corrective actions.
Attends all staff meetings and training opportunities as provided.
Reflects professionalism in speech and manner and in relationships with other staff.
Works cooperatively with management staff to ensure a team effort toward providing the highest quality education opportunities available to Pre-Kindergarten children.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Learning Programs
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Possess physical skills and stamina to perform job responsibilities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine (9) months per year; salary in accordance with current salary schedule.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
