Requirements

Essential Functions:
The Dental Receptionist functions as an interface with patients, physicians, staff, health plans, and the community-at-large; obtains all information relating to patients and facilitates the collection and dissemination of information to the dental medical record and information system, and reports direction to the Oral and Vision Health Services Manager. The Dental Receptionist check-ins, assist patients, schedules appointments, is the first line of dental service for our locations in Orange, Anaheim, Fullerton, and Buena Park.? The Dental Receptionist serves as a crucial role being the first point of contact for new and returning patients. They schedule patients, assist with forms, help solve issues related to appointments, insurance / fees, and other general patient questions within our dental clinics. They also connect patients to dental providers, resourcing patients to informed answers on their dental health.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands – Repetitive motions and routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, copiers/scanners, filing cabinets. Ability to see, speak, walk, hear, stand, use of hand/fingers to handle or feel; climb stairs, stoop, carry/lifting up to 20 lbs. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional standing at events. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. It includes open offices, office equipment, such as, phones, computers, and printer/copy machines, and waiting areas. The demands of the position include travel to assigned clinics and occasional organization-wide activities.

Education:
High School Graduate or GED. 

License/ Certifications:
California Driver’s License (if driving mobile) and clean driving record 

Experience:
Preferred previous experience with patients in a medical or dental setting, helping swiftly resolve patient questions and concerns. computers and/or automated scheduling; prior experience preferred in handling and balancing cash 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Operates all general business equipment and assists office with all clerical needs

Knowledge of grammar, spelling and medical terminology.

General knowledge of healthcare insurance and terminology

Ability to sort and file by alphabet or terminal digit. 

Ability to handle cash transactions and balance cash drawers.

Highly organized with strong time management skills, being able to perform simultaneous tasks and prioritize tasks effectively.

Demonstrates the ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish without an interpreter.

Demonstrates interpersonal/cultural sensitivity and work with a diverse and often underserved population.

Ability to drive large mobile clinic as needed. 

Incumbent may travel via personal vehicle throughout the community as well as between other SJNH facilities and departments. 

Ability to work Saturdays
