St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, a Lasallian Catholic, all-boys high school, announces an opening for a
full-time German teacher to begin work in August 2024. The successful candidate will have the
knowledge and skills necessary to teach German to both novice and advanced German language
students.
Candidate Profile:
Content expertise, a desire and ability to teach students from diverse backgrounds on an individual
level, and a love for language instruction are all required.
Effective communication skills, a willingness to actively engage our students in their learning, and an
eagerness to be active in the life of the school community are additional musts.
A Bachelor's degree is required. A completed (or in-progress) master’s degree is preferable. Preference
will be given to candidates who are also able to provide instruction in a second language (Spanish,
French).
Role and Responsibilities:
The candidate will be expected to participate fully in all obligations of a high school teacher,
incorporating modern and ever-changing educational technology to suit students’ learning.
In addition to classroom instruction, additional responsibilities may include proctoring assignments,
chaperoning events, and attending extracurricular programming.
The German teacher reports to the Principal and will be expected to work collaboratively with our
students, faculty, and administrators.
Compensation:
Starting salary ranges from $37,000-$65,000, based on experience, and in accordance with the St.
Joseph’s Faculty Organization’s negotiated contract. Additional compensation is available for
candidates with advanced degrees.
