Job Summary
Responsible for the supervision, coaching and record keeping of the recreational adult or youth swim club. Part time employment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises program participants and assistant coaches.
Assists with program planning, implementation, and growth.
Aids Aquatics Supervisor in scheduling practices and events
Accounts for time records of program participants.
Responds to emergency situations as needed.
Training & testing of coaching staff before & during the swim season.
Inspection & inventory of all equipment/uniforms (pre, during, and postseason).
Development & teaching of policies, procedures, and emergency action plan.
Liaison between program participants and Aquatics/Recreation Supervisor
Updating/documentation of all reports and statistical information.
Evaluation of club program needs.
Performs, monitors & trains staff in customer service and personally performs exemplary customer service.
Ensures all participants are participating in a safe environment and manor at all times.
Maintains an attentive lookout for potential accidents in the swimming pool and surrounding facility and appropriately corrects any problems.
Attend all program meetings with program participants.
Assist with planning and hosting swim meets, swim clinics and other educational programs.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates & assists in the administration of training/in-services.
Supervises testing/documentation of water tests.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and Skills in the management of swim club activities and personnel.
Knowledge of pool safety, first aid and lifeguarding (preferred.)
Ability to conformance to the basic standards of performance and behavior.
Ability to work well with people of all ages and dispositions as well as be an effective leader.
Knowledge of pool operations, including equipment, chemical balances, cleaning, and safety factors.
Ability to obtain First aid, CPR, AED certification, and American Red Cross lifeguard training within 90 days of hire and maintain a valid safety training for swim coach certification.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to work flexible hours, which may include various intervals, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Material and Equipment Directly Used
First aid supplies, rescue equipment and other equipment directly related to the management of the program and pool. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Work is performed under a variety of conditions ranging from an indoor setting with a controlled environment to an outside setting and extreme heat. Must have the ability to routinely lift objects weighing as much as 20 pounds, occasionally lift objects weighing as much as 50 pounds or assist in lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds. Day travel will be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested off and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
Education
College education preferred. Experience with coaching a swim club, coaching a Masters swim club preferred. Current swim coach certification required; Masters Coach certification preferred. Current CPO (Certified Pool Operator) or AFO (Aquatic Facility Operator) license also preferred. WSI and Lifeguard Instructor preferred. Must be at least 17 years of age.
Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
