St. Joseph Missouri is Hiring an Environmental Services Supervisor Near Saint Joseph, MO

Job Summary/Scope
Directs the daily operations of the Industrial Pretreatment Program. Coordinates with the Laboratory Manager on Regulatory Issues at the state and federal level. Directs the work of the Pretreatment Lab Technician.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists the Laboratory Manager in the responsibility for collection, reporting and coordination of Environmental Compliance for the Division.
Inspects industries that are Significant Industrial Users (SIU) of the wastewater treatment facility and coordinates staff activities for the administration of the Industrial Pretreatment Program.
Provides direction and schedules work for Pretreatment Personnel.
Provides staff support and coordination of environmental issues including FOG, CMOM, the Clean Water Act and related laws and regulations at the state and federal level.
Helps to coordinate projects to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
Maintains and reviews records of the Pretreatment program.
Collects data, compiles and assists in writing of the annual CSO report.
Collects data, compiles and submits the annual Pretreatment report.
Reviews pollutant test results and notifies industries of violations and investigates violations.
Administers the City’s MS-4 plan and assists in compiling, writing and submitting the MS4 Annual Report.
Remains on call after hours for emergencies.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Skills in effective communications.
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge of the federal Clean Water Act, especially as it relates to MPDES –Phase II regulations, CSO regulations, MS-4 regulations, and Industrial Pretreatment regulations as well as applicable state and local policies.
Ability to summarize data for submittal to regulatory agencies.
Ability to address issues of noncompliance.
Ability to lead and direct the work activities of others.
Requires skilled and precise application of sampling techniques and accurate recording of results.
Skills in record keeping
Must have a valid drivers license
Material and Equipment Directly Used
Must be able to operate a vehicle, personal computer, telephone. There may be times when the use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Environment/Physical Requirement
Work is normally performed in an office environment with occasional field visits to industrial sites.
Must have hearing and visual acuity.
Environment requires ability to walk over uneven terrain, bend, stoop and perform other similar manual tasks.
Frequently lifts from10 to 20 pounds. Exposure to dust, fumes and infrequently exposed to varying intensities of noise.
Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes.
Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences or 4 years of Equivalent experience in related field. Must obtain a Missouri “D” level Wastewater Treatment license within one year of hiring. Must obtain a Missouri “D” level Wastewater Analyst license within one year of hiring.
