Job Description:

The Supportive Employment Manager at St. John Community Services is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the supportive employment programs for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD/DD). This role involves ensuring the safety and security of individuals served, providing direct coverage in emergencies, and managing on-site staff to achieve the outcomes outlined in Individual Support Plans (ISPs). Additionally, the manager develops and implements employment programs, conducts quality assurance activities, and leads the Supportive Employment in Northern VA (SENVA) team in supporting the operation of Community Participation and Employment programs. The Supportive Employment Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering independence, skill development, and successful integration into the workforce for individuals with IDD/DD, while also ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and the fulfillment of individualized support needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to identify suitable employment opportunities for individuals with IDD/DD.
  • Provide individualized job coaching and support to clients during the job search process, including resume building, interview preparation, and workplace integration.
  • Collaborate with employers to create inclusive work environments tailored to the unique needs of individuals with IDD/DD.
  • Conduct assessments to identify clients’ strengths, interests, and support needs to match them with suitable employment opportunities.
  • Coordinate with vocational rehabilitation agencies, educational institutions, and community partners to expand job opportunities for clients.
  • Monitor client progress in the workplace, providing ongoing support and guidance to ensure job retention and career advancement.
  • Maintain accurate records of client assessments, employment placements, and progress reports.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to DSP, ensuring the delivery of high quality services to clients.
  • Ensure direct on-site staff and management staff are sufficient to achieve the outcomes stipulated in the Individual Support Plans (ISPs) of individuals served and to ensure their safety and security at all times.
  • Develop and implement employment programs tailored to the needs and interests of individuals with IDD/DD, fostering their skill development and independence in the workplace.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities, including routine visits to all program sites, to ensure high-value operations and adherence to established standards of service delivery.
  • Lead the SENVA team to develop, implement, and oversee all activities supporting the operation of the Community Participation and Employment programs, including the full implementation and documentation of the ISP of each person served.
  • Attend ISPs meetings as needed to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in the development and review of individual support plans, ensuring alignment with employment goals and objectives.
  • Provide on-call management coverage for all hours of operation, including work hours for people supported by the employment staff.

Recruit, evaluate, monitor, hire and terminate staff. Provide supervision to direct report staff, including routine, individualized meetings to enhance communication and program operations.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

 Previous experience working with individuals with IDD/DD in a vocational rehabilitation or supportive employment setting.

 Strong understanding of disability rights laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act.

 Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

 Ability to work collaboratively with clients, employers, and interdisciplinary teams.

 Demonstrated leadership abilities and a passion for empowering individuals with disabilities.

 Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
