Job Summary:

Responsibilities: The RC is expected to first prioritize the following:

  • ensuring the safety of all residents
  • prioritizing best practices in person-centered care with respect to each resident’s individual dignity, integrity, including their unique goals
  • providing orderliness, cleanliness and structure to the program’s day-to-day operations
  • developing, fostering, and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with residents, their families, and SJCS team;

Knowledge: The RC is expected to possess the following knowledge:

  • thorough understanding of substance use treatment and recovery culture, concerns, issues, trends
  • thorough understanding of mental health first aid, principles of de-escalation techniques
  • thorough understanding of the meaning of professional and interpersonal boundaries
  • thorough understanding of the legal and ethical mandates around maintaining patient confidentiality

Skills:

  • ability to adhere to the highest ethical standards and best practices in residential care
  • commitment to empowering residents to each achieve their own individual treatment goals
  • ability to build trust and rapport with residents from a person-centered approach; while simultaneously adhering to holding appropriate professional boundaries in all interactions
  • effective interpersonal communication techniques, including verbal and written exchanges
  • ability to demonstrate a consistently empathetic and “assume-the-best” attitude in all interactions with residents and staff
  • fluency in utilization of technological tools for timely and accurate documentation
  • ability to be a proactive and flexible team member, including a willingness to ask for clarification, help, and feedback as needed
  • ability to achieve demonstration of a calm, composed, and de-escalating demeanor; the ability to appropriately utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention skills as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent

(1) year or more of relevant experience


Desired Qualifications:

CRPA or working toward a CRPA certification

CASAC or working towards CASAC certification

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in human services, or related field
