St. John of the Cross is Hiring a Part Time Maintenance Worker Near Vero Beach, FL

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of our facilities, ensuring they are safe and operational.

Reports to: Pastor

Hours of Employment: 25 Hours per week TBD between 7:30 - 4:00 PM

FLSA Class: Exempt

Performance Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees and supervises all aspects of maintenance in a safe and effective manner.

A. Major Position Responsibilities & Regular Activities:

1. Instructs and monitors maintenance staff in general maintenance/custodial tasks

a. Trains & reviews employee performance

b. Establishes daily work assignments

c. Reviews and approves time sheets

d. Supervises ground maintenance

e. Supervises and directs set up of facilities for events

f. Maintains clean and safe environment in work area

g. Trains, monitors, supervises and ensures compliance of staff in all Diocese of Palm Beach policies and procedures, safety procedures and ensures compliance of worker protection program

2. Maintains communication with appropriate individuals

a. Ensures that Diocese of Palm Beach and entity’s policies and procedures are followed

b. Accompanies inspectors (fire, insurance, EPA, etc.) on their rounds

c. Works with entity committees as directed by Pastor

3. Performs as an operations manager

a. Supervises any construction, improvement or repair

b. Verifies and supervises contractor/vendor activity

c. Solicits and reviews bids and quotes for services, equipment and supplies; follows Diocesan policies, procedures, and requirements for vendors; prepares vendor list and obtains and maintains required certificate of insurance for each one

d. Maintains buildings and equipment to provide effective operations

e. Coordinates maintenance agreements for all mechanical, electrical and other operating systems

f. Responsible for the open file of emergency systems, i.e. plumbing, electrical, fire, sewage, underground tanks, etc.

g. Responsible for the management and monitoring of energy usage in all buildings

h. Implements energy conservation measures

i. Maintains accuracy of all invoice files and records and establishes a responsible monitoring system

j. Prepares, reviews and monitors maintenance budget in conjunction with Pastor

k. Maintains security of property

l. Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance programs for all property

4. Purchases supplies for maintenance as needed

5. Attends Diocesan, and other, seminars/workshops as requested

B. Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or Equivalency, vocational training or any combination of education and experience

2. Must possess necessary mechanical skills. Five years previous HVAC and/or electrical maintenance field experience required – supervisory experience preferred

3. Must possess good interpersonal/communication skills; Ability to plan, organize, and execute an efficient plan; Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events

4. Must possess ability to supervise others - Three or more years of supervisory experience in related field

5. Must maintain confidentiality

6. Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.98 - $21.65 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
