St HOPE Leadership Academy is building a community of educators who light the spark within our scholars. As a public charter middle school in Harlem that serves students from Manhattan and the Bronx, we strive to plant the seeds of self-motivation, critical thinking and passion for lifelong learning. We are a community that is committed to being a more antiracist and culturally responsive school. Through our shared belief in relationship building, restorative practices, and project-based learning, scholars are at the center of everything we undertake. To ensure every St HOPE scholar graduates ready for a life of learning and service, we are seeking a long term substitute teacher who has multiple years of teaching experience. Our priority is on differentiated, small group instruction.

Responsibilities:

• Successfully execute provided lessons;
• Complete grading requirements, if required;
• Work with other teachers and administrators to address and resolve student issues;
• Support a school culture of high academic standards and behavioral standards grounded in restorative practices, with the aim of creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education preferred
• NYS teaching certification preferred; out of state certification will be considered
• Ability to work as part of a high performing team, including exceptional communication and organizational skills
• Desire to work in an urban middle school, experience in NYC preferred
• Demonstrated belief that all children deserve an excellent education

Schedule:

• Mondays – Thursdays 8:30am – 3:30pm
• Fridays 8:30am – 1:15pm

Note: This is a substitute position, which may require availability on short notice.
