St. Francis Center is Hiring a Peer Navigator Near Denver, CO

St. Francis Center (SFC), an institution of the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado, was established in June 1983. SFC is a refuge for homeless people in the metro Denver area. Our programs and services are tailored toward adults, and focus on daytime shelter and basic need, social services, health and wellness, housing, employment, and outreach. At SFC, “guests” can work with a variety of specialists, depending on their individual needs, which is often the first step toward transformation and ultimately self-sufficiency

We are currently looking for a Peer Navigator for our Employment Services Team. This is a Full-Time, non-exempt position eligible for an excellent benefit package as outlined below.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Employment Peer Navigator will serve as a crucial link between St. Francis Center's shelter guests and the Employment Services department, facilitating the entry of interested individuals into employment programs. This position involves providing information, support, and assessments to shelter guests who express a desire to work and participate in employment initiatives.

Job Responsibilities (duties include but are not limited to):

  • Engage with day shelter guests to identify individuals interested in employment and provide them with information about St. Francis Center's Employment Programs.
  • Conduct one-on-one consultations with guests to assess their readiness and interest in pursuing employment opportunities.
  • Educate guests about available employment resources, workshops, and training programs offered by St. Francis Center.
  • Assist guests in navigating the process of enrolling in employment services and accessing related support programs, including accompanying them to New Client Orientation sessions at the Employment Services office
  • Maintain accurate records of guest interactions, assessments, and referrals within the organization's database.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure seamless transitions for guests entering employment programs.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve outreach strategies to increase guest engagement and participation in employment services.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Peer Navigator must have experienced homelessness prior to this position and be stably out of homelessness for at least one year and overcome barriers to employment.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to manage conflict, mitigate/respond to stressful situations and engage traumatic stories.
  • Ability to understand and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Ability to listen with care, treat guests with respect and dignity, and respond to each individual’s unique needs.
  • Willingness to participate in SFC and other training to complement the Peer Navigator’s skills and abilities and provide Peer Navigation services in a trauma-informed manner that is relatively consistent across the entire agency.
  • Basic computer skills necessary, and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds with various lifestyles, sexual orientations, and of all ages and genders.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to transport guests in SFC vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a Peer Support role or case management
  • Familiarity with employment readiness programs and job placement services
  • Bilingual proficiency in a commonly spoken language by our shelter guests (ie Spanish)

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, Monday through Friday. 

Pay Rate is $20-$22 per hour.
