The licensed registered nurse is a professional nurse who is responsible and accountable for providing evidence-based clinical care to designated patients utilizing the nursing process. This is accomplished by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care according to established ethical/cultural codes and standards of nursing practices and working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to achieve patient outcomes. The registered nurse is responsible to delegate tasks appropriately to other licensed and unlicensed health care team members.
Job Duties
Provides patient care, patient/family education, patient monitoring, and drug administration in the EP lab (pre, intra and post procedure) under the direction of a Electrophysiologist/Cardiologist to ensure patient safety and outcomes.
Performs/reviews and documents a pre-procedural patient assessment to obtain adequate information, communicate pertinent data to MD, and promote positive outcomes for patient.
Evaluates patient response to medications during device implantations and EP studies.
Acts as first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic EP studies and ablations procedures to assure completeness of case. Acts as first assistant with device implantations
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and products used for procedures to ensure its’ accuracy and safety.
Assist in the development of performance improvement activities in the EP lab, to include ideas, data collection, data analysis and implementing change to ensure best practice in the EP lab. Maintains accurate implantable device data base.
Assist in the education process of new employees, mentors students and other healthcare professionals observing in the EP lab
Qualifications
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
Must be RN Licensed in state where work is being performed
ACLS certification
CPR certification
Specialized Knowledge:
ECG rhythm interpretation
Knowledge of critical care medications
Kind and Length of Experience:
Two years critical care nursing experience.
