Job Summary

The External Relations and Communications Specialist for the Our Lady of the Lake Foundation is responsible for an integrated and strategic communications plan as well as materials development in support of all Foundation teams that include fundraising, events, and donor relations.

Job Requirements

• 5 years related experience (communications, marketing)
• Bachelor's Degree
• Excellent writing, interpersonal, management, and organizational skills
• Proven project management skills including the ability to develop and manage multiple deadlines and make decisions thoughtfully but quickly
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Experience in project management software, specifically Basecamp
• Experience in email and social media platforms as well as other content management systems
• Experience working in a large, complex environment preferably the fundraising or non-profit sector

Job Function:

• Draft, edit and/or proofread solicitations, outreach pieces, news releases, and other communications on behalf of fundraising, events, and donor relations teams.
• Serve as project manager/liaison with OLOL Marketing and Communications including management of all tasks through project management system.
• In coordination with individual and corporate frontline fundraisers, develop materials including fund description language, proposals, gift announcements.
• In coordination with annual and mid-level giving, implement the annual strategic solicitation plan utilizing a multi-channel approach while working with OLOL Marketing and Communications to develop content for direct mail, email, social media, and online giving.
• In coordination with signature events, the Children’s Miracle Network partnership as well as third party fundraising efforts, develop materials including event invitations, sponsor packages, email and social media content, event programs, talking points, on-site graphics, and videos.
• In coordination with philanthropic services and donor relations, implement a strategic communications plan that supports donor engagement and stewardship as well as donor recognition signage and gift announcements.
• Working with OLOL Marketing and Communications, create and implement a strategic communications plan that will highlight the impact of philanthropy at OLOL Regional Medical Center, Children’s Hospital, and the Baton Rouge market including but not limited to press releases, social media, and paid advertising.
• Maintain robust online presence, researching and aligning with best practices for website development and content.
