Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Chaplain, you will work with all hospital departments and personnel to provide spiritual guidance and emotional support during illness, injury and/or emergency to patients, family members, visitors, hospital staff, and physicians. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will advocate for a patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions, and will demonstrate caring and empathy in all interactions.

  • You will provide on-call and as needed spiritual care services and visitations to patients, family members, and employees
  • You will aim to reduce anxiety and fear, mediate conflict, and offer prayer when appropriate
  • You will serve as a liaison to community churches and clergy members on behalf of the hospital, including the coordination of patient visits
  • You will document services and significant interactions in the patient record
  • You will provide assistance with crisis intervention measures where appropriate
  • You will provide guidance with advanced directives and ethical issues of patients and families

Job Requirements

Experience

  • Previous experience working in a hospital setting as a Chaplain – preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in area of expertise from an accredited institution
  • 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)
  • Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) completed in a hospital setting – preferred
  • Masters of Divinity – preferred
