Job Summary and Qualifications

As a PBX Operator, you will be responsible for using a multi-line phone system, answering, transferring and connecting incoming calls to appropriate extensions or departments and paging hospital personnel as required. You will also be responsible for initiating communication procedures for emergencies or codes.

  • You will answer and transfer incoming calls from both internal and external callers in a timely fashion with strong customer service skills
  • You will operate the hospital phone system in an Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) environment to process calls
  • You will provide information to callers as requested or ask suitable questions to best refer the caller to the appropriate hospital personnel or department
  • You will monitor alarm systems and execute paging for emergency communication procedures and alarm signals as fire, bomb threat, weather threat, missing baby or patient, disasters, and cardiac arrest
  • You will have strong knowledge of hospital codes and alarms and the effect they have on patient care and safety, and coordinate emergency code responses assuring the proper personnel is notified

Wednesday - 1500-2330
Thursday - 2300-0700
Friday - 1900-0700
Saturday - 1900-0700

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

  • Previous experience as a PBX operator or working with automated call distribution systems – preferred

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent – preferred
