St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Mathematical Sciences/Statisticsdepartment for the 2024 - 2025 academic year.
The undergraduate college at St. Catherine University (St. Kate's) is one of the only 6 US institutions that is both a women's college and a minority serving institution. Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Kate's is home to a diverse group of around $3,500 students in varying disciplines and degree levels. The Mathematical Sciences department offers hands-on faculty/student collaborative research opportunities and dedicated active learning and computer classrooms with an emphasis on developing critical thinking and communication skills in a cooperative environment. Our faculty prioritize teaching excellence and work collaboratively to support students who are passionate about social justice and aspire to use their education and training to lead and influence.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach the equivalent of 6-7 courses.
  • Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities.
  • Communicate frequently with the Division/Department Leaders for updates or changes in the course information.
  • Foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic relationships with students as an educator, an advisor, and a mentor.
  • Monitor and assess student-learning outcomes and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance.
  • Be competent, compassionate, and caring in meeting student needs.
  • Design, teach, evaluate and revise course content to reflect evidence-based practice and most current knowledge in the field. Monitor curriculum content and make recommendations as appropriate to maintain relevance. Effectively contribute to the highly collaborative work of the Department.
  • Engage in service to the mathematical Sciences Department, Division for Math and Sciences, University, Profession.
  • Develop and pursue an innovative and respected program of research in an area of interest and expertise to advance the discipline and inform classroom teaching.
    Collaborate with undergraduate students in research.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, or related field. All But Dissertation(ABD) can qualify for a Visiting Faculty position.
  • Experience teaching introductory statistics, math, computer science or other closely related topics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience teaching statistics or mathematics.
  • Experience teaching online, in-person, hybrid, and experience using online homework systems.
  • Experience with R-coding or other statistical software packages for statistics.
  • Experience in Computer Science and coding a plus.
  • Ability to teach and mentor diverse student populations.
