Provides reference and instruction services to the university community. Manages the library’s federal and state government depository library collections. Recommends additions to the library collection through collection development and assists with general collection management and classification. Participates in staff meetings and planning for the overall library and makes recommendations to the library director. Participate in professional development. By definition in the Faculty Status and Welfare Handbook, librarians are faculty members at the university. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Functions: (indicate percentage of time in right column – total time must add to 100%)Provides professional reference service to the university, offering a wide range of technical and intellectual assistance and instruction in the use of reference materials, including in-depth research for faculty. 30% Partners with teaching faculty on matters of curriculum support through collection development and library instruction. 5%Assists teaching faculty with the development of research assignments within their course objectives. 3%Prepare and update Library Guides for government information and other subjects and classes. 5%Collection development and maintenance: Selects new materials for addition to the library's general collection and identifies items for de-selection as necessary.10�velops instructional materials related to library and research needs.3%Manages all aspects of the Government Documents collection, including selection of student assistants, and serves as the liaison with the Federal and New York State Depository Library Programs.20%Assists with general collection management and classification. 10�ministrative duties including reference meetings, project planning, etc. 5%Professional development5%Plan and execute monthly window displays for the main lobby. 2%Assists with oversight of the Circulation Desk and its student workers.2%
