St. Augustine College is Hiring a GED Coordinator/Transfer Coordinator Near Chicago, IL

Title: Bilingual (English/Spanish) Adult Ed. ESL & Transition Coordinator
Department: Academic Affairs – Adult Education
Reports to: Director of Adult Education
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Adult Education, this position coordinates the day to dayoperations of Spanish and English adult education services including program promotion and prospective student recruitment, TABE & CASAS test proctoring, student orientations, student intake and enrollment, support services, retention services and transition services at college’s facilities and in the field as assigned. This position will also assist the Director with the coordination of all aspects (financial, educational, logistical, promotional, and administrative) of the Adult Education Program at the Chicago West/South location of St. Augustine College.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
1. Actively identify and recruit prospective adult education students into a Career Pathway program at St. Augustine College.
2. Assists with the scheduling of Adult Education ESL courses and the securing of the resources needed to deliver those courses (classrooms, technology, instructors, and training materials among others).
3. Assists students, one-on-one or through group facilitated sessions, with TABE & CASAS testing, intake and registration for the Adult Education programs.
4. Enters student information in an accurate and timely manner in DAISI, the College database and the grantor proprietary applications.
5. Maintains accurate files (hard copy and electronic) of every student in the programs and documents accurately the interactions with the students and the interventions and services
provided to the students.
6. Periodically meet with prospective transition students to advise and assist them through the registration process of St. Augustine College credit classes; perform individual and group
orientations regarding setting goals and achieving successful transitions to college in both English and Spanish.
7. Track student goals (setting and achieving) to meet funder performance measures including the tracking of student success passing the GED/HiSET tests.
8. Proactively works with GED & ESL students to transition/bridge them to college’s academic and workforce programs and refers students to the Career and Transfer Center (CTC) for
career services.
9. Networks with community-based organizations, chambers of commerce, elected officials, faithbased organizations, among others, to create awareness about adult education programming and to develop strategic relationships to recruit students to the programs.
10.Completes other projects and duties as assigned including supporting other activities that takeplace at the Chicago West/South location of St. Augustine College.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling or related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in an educational environment, in educational counseling.
2. Basic to Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook skills.
3. Ability to multi-task in a very fast-paced environment.
4. Bilingual (English/Spanish) Good written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
5. Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and other organizations.
6. Self-directed, organized, and innovative with a well developed sense of customer service and professionalism.
7. Sensitivity to socially and ethnically diverse communities.
8. Highly developed analytical and problem solving and decision making skills.
9. Ability to work on campus at least 3 days per week. This expectation may increase over time.
