Registered Nurse (RN)

SUMMARY Provides professional nursing care in an outpatient clinic setting.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or diploma from a school of nursing.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS

Graduate of an accredited school for professional nurse.

Currently licensed as a practical nurse in the State of Iowa.

If assigned, current certification to perform limited radiology examinations in the State of Iowa.

Basic CPR certification.

Knowledge of principles of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and disease processes. Knowledge of medical laboratory techniques, principles, and instruments. Knowledge of medical office practice and procedures, office equipment, medical terminology, data entry, health insurance providers’ rules and regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

SUMMARY Provides patient care services at outpatient clinic settings consistent with licensure as a practical nurse.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Certificate from college or technical school.

Graduate of an accredited school for licensed practical nurses.

Currently licensed as a practical nurse in the State of Iowa.

If assigned, current certification in the State of Iowa to perform limited radiology examinations.

CPR certification.

Job Summary

Provides basic patient care duties, limited radiology services, limited laboratory testing and clerical services in an outpatient clinic setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· If assigned, performs limited laboratory testing (including phlebotomy and a variety of routine and/or automated tests), quality assurance procedures, maintains records of tests performed and results received.

· If assigned and with appropriate education and certification, performs limited radiological services, including taking and processing radiology films, maintaining appropriate recordkeeping, performing and documenting quality assurance/control procedures, and observing safety requirements.

· Maintains inventory of supplies.

· Reports results and pertinent information to patients and healthcare team members.

· Maintains equipment and instruments, identifying problems and coordinating appropriate repairs.

· Assists with a variety of minor procedures exams and/or operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned.

· Assists with assessment by collection of basic data for assigned patients in the clinic or on the phone. Documents basic assessment and care/instructions given.

· Coordinates ongoing patient flow through the clinic process, ensuring efficient and effective continuity, i.e. greeting patients, updating demographic and insurance information, phone calls, superbills, collecting payments.

· Maintains appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, procedures and medications administered.

· Performs miscellaneous office duties including, but not limited to, filing and retrieving medical records, preparing reports and correspondence, and operating various business machines (FAX, copier, computer,

· adding machine).

· Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

· Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

· Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

· Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

· Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

· Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.
