St Anthony Foundation Job Board is Hiring an Employment Specialist I Near San Francisco, CA

Salary Range

$62,000-$67,000 annually

Principal Responsibility

St. Anthony’s Workforce Development Program (WDP) serves the community by providing job readiness training, career development services, job search, and job coaching to individuals residing at Fr. Alfred Center or with individual guests living in San Francisco who seek St. Anthony’s services. The Workforce Development Program offers guests an opportunity to build skills, secure transitional employment, and achieve employment success long-term. In the spirit of St. Anthony’s mission and our Franciscan values and heritage, our team provides compassion and care daily.

As a steward of healing and social justice, you are expected to meet the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Workforce Development & Transitional Employment Services

  • Collaborate with job site supervisors/hiring managers to understand required skills for specific jobs and develop training solutions to fill identified gaps in skills or job readiness
  • Provide training and other services (see below) to support the implementation of the Transitional Employment model at St. Anthony’s and with external partners, to include: design and delivery of new curriculum based on employer needs, assessment, and evaluation, and other support as needed.
  • Conduct skills assessment and interest inventory to identify participants' strengths and training needs
  • Develop relevant and timely curriculum to meet the needs of guests entering or re-entering the workforce including: soft and hard skills development, job readiness and professionalism
  • Design programming that is consistent with adult learning theory and supports a variety of learning styles
  • Build and continually update curriculum to meet the needs of hiring managers within St. Anthony Foundation and with external partners
  • Provide training and support to build interviewing skills and other job readiness skills
  • Develop trainings and job orientations that ensure participants understand and comply with work procedures, program guidelines and meet established professional standards and expectations.
  • Provide on-going training support, job coaching to support employment stability after 90 days (Intermediate and Advance industry-specific training)
  • Collaborate with the Companionship Program to create comprehensive support services for guests

Job Search

  • Work with job-seekers 1-on-1 to provide feedback, guidance, and coaching on applying for jobs.
  • Provide support to participants as they transition from temporary to permanent, stabilized employment
  • In collaboration with Fr. Alfred Center, provide information and referrals for cleaning past records or obtaining necessary documentation for their transition to employment.
  • Arrange mock interviews with SAF’s HR Team and community volunteers

Retention, After-Care Services

  • Schedule, track (in ETO – St. Anthony’s database) and maintain after-care communication touchpoints at 30, 60, and 90 day benchmarks following Basic training delivery
  • Provide retention after-care services including job coaching support to enhance performance (once participants are placed in transitional employment)
  • When appropriate, conduct additional skills assessments, career inventories, provide career development counseling to support employment progression
  • Collaborate with the Companionship Program

Program Evaluation

  • Design and conduct program evaluation via outcome and satisfaction surveys including quantitative and qualitative data collection
  • Schedule, track and maintain participant attendance and performance (ETO) in WDP opportunities
  • Enter data and information electronically as required in a timely fashion
  • Analyze data and assist Director in developing outcome measurements that reflect training and employment progress

Operations

  • Understand and uphold organization’s policies and procedures, advise Director in developing or revising existing team policies and procedures
  • Apply innovative approaches to daily workflows, service delivery, and employee engagement.
  • Build and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with team members and SAF colleagues, collaboratively work with others to achieve team success.
  • Coordinate efforts with key partners at Fr. Alfred Center, Companionship Program, and Community Safety Services, including scheduling, departmental meetings and email and phone correspondence
  • Build and maintain community connections with stakeholders who support Workforce Development and Transitional Employment as directed
  • Attend community events related to hiring, adult training and development, i.e. (i.e. Community Job Fairs, and related events)
  • Create and maintain professional learning materials & resources: binders, handouts, journals; use consistent branding
  • Order office and program supplies in accordance with purchasing guidelines
  • Complete timesheets and expense reports with accurancy and in a timely fashion (within current pay period)
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance learning and continuous improvement
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations in a calm and productive manner and to make referrals to other departments when appropriate
  • Practice direct, respectful, open, and honest communication with colleagues
  • Proactively seek support from team members or management
  • Represent the Workforce Development team and its work within the SAF Community including at town halls, special events and other required meetings
  • Consistently demonstrate integrity and SAF’s values while representing St. Anthony’s at public events

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to interact and build trusting relationships with colleagues, volunteers, donors, managers and senior leaders
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills, ability to influence and educate
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new skills and systems including information and communication technologies
  • Ability to uphold the highest levels of professionalism and serve as role models for our guests
  • Demonstrated experience setting professional boundaries with clients/guests who may be vulnerable
  • Commitment to St. Anthony’s Foundation Statement of Values, Mission and Goals
  • Experience working in a non-profit or community-based social service agency with people experiencing homelessness and/or poverty (desired)
  • Experience providing on the job coaching and mentoring (desired)
  • Demonstrated experience in adult education, workforce and professional development, facilitation and training delivery
  • Certification in Workforce Development, Talent Pipeline Management or Career Development (preferred)
  • BA or equivalent work experience
