SSM Health is Hiring a Nuclear Medicine Tech PRN Near Saint Louis, MO

PRN Part time On Call

Our team of experienced technologists are doing cutting edge research studies and our site is designated as a SNMMI Center of Excellence in Radiopharmaceutical Therapy. You will work directly with our nuclear medicine physicians and Dr. Osman, who is known worldwide for his research work. You will be cross trained in PET and Nuclear medicine which feature a Phillips Vereos Digital PET/CT and 3 Ge Cameras, 1 SPECT, 1 SPECT/CT and 1 CZT SPECT/CT that are 2 years old. We have a continuing education resource center that facilitates free continuing education hours as well. 

Under the direction of the Nuclear Medicine physicians and Nuclear Medicine Manager, performs procedures using diagnostic and therapeutic radionuclides.

The PET technologist is responsible for performing all types of PET imaging, providing appropriate patient care for the exams, and administering radiopharmaceuticals specific for PET imaging as well as any other related procedures under the standards and methodology established by the department. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

This position is responsible for the performance of PET imaging. 

Draws and administers the correct radiopharmaceuticals to the patient I.V., oral, or inhaled. 

Quality Control Procedures 

Demonstrates knowledge of Radiation Safety and complies with all policies and procedures in regards to the ALARA program.

Department Responsibilities 

Safety/Infection Control: 

Provides service excellence to the customers of St. Louis University Hospital by delivering timely, high quality care in a courteous, and respectful manner.

Obtains 24 hours of continuing education every two years per ARRT guidelines.

Maintains BCLS certification.

Assists Clinical Educator in the instruction of Nuclear Medicine students by providing supervised hands-on experiences based upon the individual student’s capabilities.

Job Specifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Program

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year's experience preferred but not required

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION: Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-Nuclear; Basic Cardiac Life Support for Healthcare Workers
