SSM Health Care Corporation is Hiring a Patient Access Representative I Near Madison, WI

The Patient Access Representative is as important as any other function in the healthcare delivery system. You, under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, provide exceptional customer service by serving as the frontline ambassador of service between the patient and the Outpatient Center. The Patient Access Representative ensures a positive patient experience from the time a patient accesses the system. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Greeting patients immediately, in a friendly, helpful and welcoming manner

Assisting patients in scheduling an appointment that meets their needs

Registering new patients, completely and accurately

Verifying demographic and insurance information is complete and accurate

Collecting Co-payments at the time of service

Answering phones in a friendly, helpful and welcoming manner, within SSM Health Standards

Demonstrating a resourceful nature and actions when patients and/or internal customers have questions

Closing each encounter in a friendly, helpful manner

This is a full time, 40 hours per week position. Hours are either 8:00-4:30 pm or 8:30-5:00 pm, no weekends or holidays required. It is located on the third floor of our Dean St. Mary's Outpatient Center. It is a high traffic position. Excellent customer service skills are required. Experience with Epic and scheduling are helpful.

Reponsible for communicating with patients, participants and staff to accurately schedule patients for prescribed procedures and gather the necessary demographic, insurance and clinical information for the procedure.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Gathers information from patient and enters into appropriate database. Seeks appropriate resources to resolve issues about the type, date or location of prescribed procedures. Schedules patient procedures in a manner that most efficiently utilizes the patient's time and clinical resources. Coordinates and communicates schedules. Assists with coordination of activities related to insurance pre-certification/authorization. Provides counseling to patient, participant or their representative regarding pre-service requirements and instructions. Performs clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration. Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent keyboard use/data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Rare climbing.
