SSFM is Hiring a Structural Design Engineer _ 5+ years experience Near Honolulu, HI

 

The structural engineer position is under the direct supervision of the Engineering Team Leader (ETL). The position provides application of engineering fundamentals to the design of structural systems. Performs assignments designed to develop professional work skills and knowledge, and to carry out a sequence of related engineering/planning tasks, using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Work may include bridge work (girder, suspension, arch, truss, bascule, lift and swing), long span roof structures, buildings, retaining walls and various other types of building and construction. 

The job duties of a structural design engineer may include:

  1. Conducting research and analysis to determine the strength, stability, and rigidity of various structural designs.
  2. Developing detailed design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for new construction projects.
  3. Evaluating existing structures and recommending modifications or repairs to improve their safety and performance.
  4. Collaborating with architects, construction teams, and other professionals to ensure that designs are feasible, efficient, and cost-effective.
  5. Using specialized computer software to model and analyze structural designs and simulate various forces and loads.
  6. Conducting field inspections and overseeing construction projects to ensure that designs are being implemented correctly, and that structures are meeting safety and quality standards.
  7. Staying up-to-date on the latest building codes, regulations, and industry standards, and incorporating them into design plans and specifications.

To be successful in this role, a structural design engineer should have a strong understanding of engineering principles, as well as experience with different software and tools (i.e. CAD, Revit, etc). They should also possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals. A bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredit university is required. Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred. Prior relevant experience in engineering and construction is a plus. Professional License required for E-IV level.
