SRD Engineers is currently seeking a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Technician I to assist with SUE Excavation operations for our Tampa location. The SUE Tech I is an entry-level position that is responsible for assisting the Lead SUE Tech in all aspects of electronically and physically locating underground utilities. No prior SUE Experience required. We seek a dependable, motivated, self-starter for this opportunity. Training and mentoring are provided to assist in career development. Qualified candidates must be able to work in a high demand environment on projects throughout the state, coordinate daily with fellow crew members and management and perform field related activities.

Responsibilities include:

• Works alongside an experienced SUE Tech in the field performing both designating and test hole tasks on underground utility location.
• Drives, operates, and maintains vacuum-excavation vehicles.
• Soil excavation digging with high pressure air/hydro wand and vacuum hose systems.
• Locate underground utilities using locating devices.
• Stocks vacuum excavation trucks and support vehicles with the appropriate equipment, supplies, tools, paint, flags, signs, asphalt, concrete, etc. daily.
• Able to perform physical labor (i.e., lift, squat, bend, scoop, dig trenches, standing for extended periods of time).
• Responsible for maintaining a safe work site environment for all crewmembers.

Requirements are:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable Transportation
• Must be willing and able to travel occasionally (if needed).
• Must be able to work outdoors.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
