POSITION SUMMARY:

A Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping the facility operating and proactively repairing any problems. A Maintenance Technician will be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around the facility. The Maintenance Technician must listen carefully to recommendations by those affected and provide prompt and effective solutions for the team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in and support the principles of Great Game of Business and Open Book Management

Perform basic preventive maintenance of equipment to include but not limited to; forklifts, carts, and conveyors
Maintain outside building areas including debris removal, pathways, snow removal, & de-ice applications
Set-up and maintain training and break rooms for various types of activities
Operate powered sweepers and scrubbers to clean all walkways and drive aisles
Operate Powered Industrial Trucks including forklifts and aerial lifts
Operate a variety of hand and power tools
Perform numerous regularly schedule safety inspections, working closely with the EHS Coordinator
Perform general painting including walls, stairs, door, and some machinery
Provide assistance to Maintenance Technicians in facility projects requiring electrical, plumbing, HVAC, assembly, disassembly, etc. as directed
Track maintenance supplies, communicate with suppliers for replenishment needs, and drive to coordinate purchases and pickups
Follow approved work instructions

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed mostly in an uncontrolled atmosphere; will be exposed to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures. The Maintenance Technician will be required to stand/walk 90% of the work day and sit 10% of the work day. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis is required. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb ladders, operate scissor-lift, sit-down forklift, and stand-up forklift, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; talk and hear. All employees are required to follow safety standards, adhere to Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

1 year experience with maintenance, custodial work, or construction
PREFERRED: Basic Conveyor and Electrical Knowledge
PREFERRED: 2 years of experience with maintenance, custodial work, or construction
PREFERRED: 1 year of fork lift experience

Reading Comprehension: basic reading comprehension in order to read and interpret documents, plans, and schematic drawings and comprehend written instructions.
Technology: Solid computer proficiency with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office & Windows based programs. Ability to use scanners and other technology for inventory purposes
