Medical Assistant- OBGYN PracticeOverview: Square Care Medical Group, LLP in partnership with Unified Women’s Healthcare New York is currently seeking an experienced, compassionate and dedicated individual to fill the position of Medical Assistant in our ObGyn medical practice. Square Care Medical Group is the largest women's health organization on Long Island. We offer several specialties with 70 providers across 20 locations, and are a recognized leader in our industry.
The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing various administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the practice runs efficiently. Performs patient care under the direct supervision of a physician. These duties include validating patient identifiers, preparing patients and rooms for examination, measuring, and recording vital signs, drawing blood, and collecting other lab samples. Other duties include scheduling appointments, answering phones, and performing data entry. This candidate will assist in promoting a positive patient experience as outlined in our mission, vision, and values. Job Responsibilities:
Escorts patients to exam rooms
Greets patients warmly and professionally and communicates clearly
Cleans and stocks exam rooms
Measures and records patient vital signs (i.e.; weight, blood pressure)
Prepares patients for exam, records reason for visit and related information
Obtains and processes blood or lab samples
Performs point of care testing, including but not limited to; NST, pregnancy test, urinalysis
Follows all medical group guidelines for collecting and documenting information in EMR
Communicates effectively with providers and administrative staff and escalates issues when necessary
Assists management in maintaining medical inventory and placing orders for supplies as needed
Reviews and maintains all inventory for accuracy
Assists in gathering historical patient data, tests, etc. from outside service facilities
Scans and processes data in patient medical record
Reviews and responds to messages and tasks within EMR
Documents medication and supplies utilized for billing purposes
Answers phones, schedules appointments, and performs administrative tasks if necessary
Maintains all compliance standards as determined by the Medical Group
Performs other duties as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution
At least one year of experience preferred
Phlebotomy experience preferred
