SPS Career Info is Hiring a Locksmith Near Concord, NH

St. Paul's School seeks a locksmith who will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and
adjusting all types of locks and their components for School buildings, rooms, furniture and vehicles;
cuts and issues keys; programs and issues key cards; implements, troubleshoots; upgrades and maintains
repairs of automatic door openers, door closing units and control gates; inspects related contractor-completed
work for conformance with specifications. Performs light carpentry and other duties as required. Assist with
repairs and programming electronic access control systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install, repair, and maintain commercial locks and related hardware including card access locks,
locks on doors, windows, lockers, and magnetic keying systems to ensure safety of facilities.
• Produce and/or modify hardware for locks.
• Design, implement and maintain preventative maintenance program.
• Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring
availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
• Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate
safety or security concerns.
• Cleans, maintains, adjusts, calibrates and services equipment used in the performance of duties.
• Operate and maintain key software program to keep key log current.
• Communicate regularly and proactively with SPS departments and stakeholders, including but
not limited to Safety, Facilities, and Information Technology, especially as it relates to ensuring
campus wide operational continuity of locks and card access system.
• Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to School specifications and
requirements.
• Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction.
• Light carpentry/repair/painting generally related to doors, windows, millwork, glazing, and
screens.
• Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the employee’s supervisor.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain computer software related to card access control systems (RS2).
• Program, troubleshoot, and maintain key box software (Key Systems GFMS).
• Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in automatic locks for the purposes of identifying
equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
• Assists with Key/ID card distribution and collection, creating and implementing policies to
ensure the safety of the campus with respect to key and card access, and overall responsibility
for the inventory of these items.
• Documents and administers the School’s card access control system which includes:
o Lock programming and building scheduling.
o Individual and bulk user creation.
o Usage report generation.
o Setting and monitoring system alerts.
o Troubleshooting card access issues.
o Partnering with the IT department on software updates.
o Assisting with user ID badge creation.

Qualification requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Locksmith training or at least two years of locksmith experience.
• Ability to operate a personal computer and software related to automatic locks.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in
written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete
variables in standardized situations.
• Valid New Hampshire driver’s license required.
• Must be able to prioritize work so that all assignments are completed in an efficient
manner.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.

Special Requirements: Must be available for emergency call-in, and vacation approval may be limited during peak activity periods.
