Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join our team. As a Cytotechnologist, you will be responsible for examining cells and cellular anomalies to detect early signs of diseases such as cancer. Your expertise will contribute to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Duties:
- Perform specimen collection processing, including preparing slides and staining techniques
- Utilize laboratory information management systems to document and track test results
- Follow established laboratory procedures and protocols to ensure accurate and reliable test outcomes
- Analyze cellular samples under a microscope, identifying abnormal cells or cellular changes
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and observations
- Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss test results and provide recommendations for further analysis or treatment
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to safety protocols
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or related field
- Certification as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent
- Proficient in laboratory techniques, including specimen preparation, staining, and microscopic analysis
- Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, and laboratory procedures
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ELISA and RNA extraction techniques
