Dublin Springs is a 72-bed behavioral hospital located in Dublin, Ohio. The hospital offers inpatient and outpatient mental health an addiction treatment to adults, adolescents and their families. At Columbus Springs East we are dedicated to Changing People’s Lives®.

The ADON is accountable for assisting the DON in implementing and directing all nursing services. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff and administration to achieve the hospitals goals and objectives. The Assistant Director of Nursing collaborates with the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the delivery of quality general and psychiatric nursing care consistent with the facility’s goals and objectives. Duties include staffing, training and development, revision of nursing policies and procedures, standards of performance, and communication regarding nursing issues to medical staff, department director’s and administration. Participates in departmental and team meetings to discuss patient care and develop treatment plans.

Position Details

• Ensures compliance with all state, federal and regulatory agencies – meeting or exceeding regulatory compliance in delivery of care.
• Ensures timely, relevant and accurate quality reports to the DON.
• Collaborates with DON on maintaining a high level of service and quality medical care.
• Assures adequate supervision and evaluation processes for all staff members.
• Supervises nursing management team and acts as a role model for excellent customer service and holds all nursing staff to this standard.
• Conducts conflict resolution and medication with staff in the nursing department in a professional manner.
• Ensures the implementation of an ongoing system of program orientation for patients, families, and professionals and others.
• Assures adequate supervision and evaluation processes for all staff members and delegates these responsibilities as appropriate.
• Assists with orientation for new employees.
• Routinely reviews job assignments and utilization of staff.
• Analyzes statistical data on inpatient programs to determine and respond to trends.
• Collaborates with nursing staff on maintaining a high level of service and quality medical care.
• Expresses ideas effectively in individual, public, and group situations and works collaboratively to find solutions to problems. Role models competence, enthusiasm, and commitment to quality that is desired from all hospital staff.
• Ensures high level of patient satisfaction with treatment.
• Enhances hospital visibility by involvement in the community regarding mental health and substance abuse community needs.
• Ensures that the inpatient programs are staffed with the appropriate resources to ensure high quality of nursing care delivery.
• Report incidents appropriately and within the designated time frame. Demonstrates good judgment in contacting the AOC or DON
• Delivery of quality nursing care to ensure goals of the treatment plan are properly executed following hospital policies and procedures and demonstrated nursing competencies.
• Prepares monthly reports for Pl, and attends monthly Pl and safety meetings.
• Oversees all patient satisfaction data and reports the data monthly to Pl committee.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or relevant state licensure required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred. Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.

License: Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. Must be at least 21 years of age. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
