Maintenance Mechanic performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment equipment. Assignments are carried out in accordance with standard trade practices and general work instructions. The employee will perform scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electro-mechanical machinery and equipment. The employee will also perform minor vehicle maintenance and repairs. Work is performed independently, but under the direction of the higher level Maintenance Mechanic, Superintendent or Director. Ensures that all interactions with peers and public are handled in a professional and courteous manner.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work may involve conditions that can only be partially controlled and expose the employee to raw sewage and sewage sludge. Work is frequently performed alone and may be performed inside and/or around noisy equipment or outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Work is performed around a variety of potentially hazardous mechanical and electrical equipment and occasionally around hazardous substances. Work is performed on a permanent schedule, but may require working after normal work hours, weekends, and/or holidays in emergency situations.
