Springboard Community Services is Hiring a Family Violence Case Manager Near Columbia, MD

SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Client Services, the Family Violence Project case manager will provide crisis intervention services that emphasize safety planning, short-term and long term service coordination, and follow-up to victims of crime and family violence. This position will offer support in connecting clients to vital resources, entitlements and benefits, as well as information about the criminal justice process, victim rights and other victim service programs. The case manager will provide personal advocacy and legal advocacy, as well as court and medical accompaniment, as necessary. The goal will be to manage the immediate crisis and also lay the groundwork for a more in-depth involvement with the Family Violence Project. This position is a regional position and is expected to travel regularly through central Maryland to other program locations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Coordinate the referrals of all victims seeking services within the Family Violence Project.

· Provide crisis support, information and referrals regarding personal safety planning, entitlements, and victim services resources. Create a personal service plan unique to each victim/family.

· Arrange shelter accommodations for victims and children and provides emergency assistance as needed.

· Conduct a crisis assessment on all victims referred to the Family Violence Project.

· Educate victims regarding issues related to their particular crime.

· Refer and transfer the victims to the appropriate clinical staff for individual or group therapeutic services.

· Participate in ongoing Outreach activities within the Family Violence Project.

· Provide service coordination and short-term follow up for victims of crime and family violence.

· Maintain collaborative working relationships with outside agencies, including the child advocacy center, police department, State’s Attorney’s Office, victim service providers, schools and local hospitals.

· Participate in scheduled supervisory sessions with Director of Client Services to provide feedback regarding direct services, program and other issues which may impact the program.

· Other duties as assigned.

GENERAL DUTIES

· Active participation in case management team meetings to assist with ensuring the clients receive appropriate and timely services and to provide input to enhance service delivery for program participants.

· Keep notes on victims updated to the day in the confidential electronic files system used by the agency.

· Maintain statistics regarding service delivery and other services provided to victims of crime and family violence as necessary.

· Maintain awareness of community resources.

· Manage tasks assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

· Bachelors in a Human Service Field required, Masters preferred.

· A minimum of one year experience providing crisis services to families.

· Knowledge of and ability to work with persons of diverse backgrounds.

· Knowledge of crisis counseling skills.

· Knowledge of dynamics of victims of crime, trauma, and family violence.

· Current Driver’s License

· Safe Driving Record

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, collaborative agencies or employees of the Agency. Ability to speak Spanish, a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are required.

· Current Driving License

· Routine office mobility.

· The Family Violence Program Case Manager must be able to transport her/himself to other agency and community partner locations and assigned locations as necessary in a timely manner.

· The Case Manager will need to travel to meet with clients and attend meetings. This must be done in a timely and efficient manner.

· The Case Manager will need to work in different locations for the agency at different times, varying on the needs of clients and staff support

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $23.50 per hour
