Qualifications

Education The Lot Porter assists both the Sales and Service Departments in maintaining the new and used car lots, and in transporting vehicles to appropriate departments for service and inventory control.

High school diploma or the equivalent.

Job-Specific Expectations

Verifies receipt of new cars delivered to dealer and parks cars in new car lot in orderly manner : Compares serial numbers of incoming cars against invoice.

• Inspects cars to detect damage and to verify presence of accessories listed on invoice, such as spare tires and radio and stereo equipment.
• Records description of damages and lists missing items on delivery receipt.
• Parks new cars in assigned area according to model.
• Assigns stock control numbers to cars, and catalogs and stores keys.
• Delivers sold cars to new car preparation department.

Cleans and prepares vehicles after sale for customer

Services cars in storage to protect tires, battery, and finish against deterioration.

Routine Lot Maintenance (pull weeds, snow removal, lot cleanup, etc.)

Parks vehicles in accordance with policy and under direction of Sales to ensure that the lot is attractive to potential buyers.

Responsible for adding and maintaining key tags and window stickers on new lot vehicles.

Drives vehicles to other dealerships for 'dealer swaps' or to other vendors as requested.

May pick-up or deliver customers as requested using dealership vehicles.

Clean interior and exterior of dealership and customer vehicles.

When assigned other duties, pursue and accomplish with excellency in mind.
