ABOUT THE POSITION

The Assistant Buyer Baseball will assist the buyer in all facets of the purchasing process. This position reports directly to the General Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Produce, enter and track purchase orders placing them with the vendor, B2B, and Vendornet. 
• Follow up with the warehouse on D holds and receiving issues.
• Follow up with vendors on missing PO confirmations, review and match as needed.
• Timely focus on being properly in-stock on all products, continuous work on backorder, and open PO reports for categories.
• Collaborate with all departments to enhance customer experience.
• Timely and reliable response to issues and requests from buyers and the customer service department.
• Analyze competitors and make recommendations to the buyer.
• Own specific categories as needed, including the selection of new products, reorders, promotional activity, and markdowns.
• Manage vendor net process with vendors and assist accounting in the resolution of invoices.
• Continuous review of the website for accuracy.
• Product management for categories with weekly reporting.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Previous assistant buying experience is strongly preferred.
• Sports knowledge is required.
• Consumer-direct experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, multi-tasking, follow-up, and negotiation skills.

• Excellent skills in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred.
