Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners is Hiring a Philanthropy Manager Near Spokane, WA

SNAP is seeking a qualified individual for a Philanthropy Manager to join our Communications and Fundraising Team.

Open until filled.

Review of applications will begin on May 23, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled.

Starting salary for this position is $30.42-$34.11 per hour DOE

Full range is $30.42 -$48.21 per hour

Benefits include medical, dental, life, LTD, PTO and 403(b)


Position Summary:
This position will provide leadership and supervision of the Communications and Fundraising Team (CFT), drive fundraising efforts, foster a culture of philanthropy, and effectively craft and relay organizational messages consistent with our brand. The Philanthropy Manager serves as a bridge between different internal SNAP work teams with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Supervision:

  • With input from the CFT, Board Communications and Development Committee and agency leaders, develop a comprehensive communications and fundraising strategy aimed at creating awareness and securing resources in support of the fulfillment of SNAP’s mission. Work with the CFT, other SNAP staff members and volunteers to achieve annually established goals.
  • In conjunction with the CAO, create an annual comprehensive development and communications budget and monitor monthly financial reports related to communications and fundraising.
  • In conjunction with the CAO, provide leadership & support in developing and implementing strategies & initiatives of the SNAP Board Communications and Development Committee.
  • Lead the CFT in creating annual goals, setting benchmarks and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of CFT outputs and outcomes.
  • Select, train, support, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff. Ensure team members receive job-related orientation and training. Establish clear expectations for performance, support employee development, and hold employees accountable for their work performance, processes and results.
  • Foster a positive and productive working environment characterized by open communication, expectations of excellence, and adaptability to change. Ensure that excellent internal customer service is provided by CFT.
  • Monitor CFT work order system and ensure that CFT work orders are allocated appropriately and completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that CFT administrative items like timesheets, purchase orders, monthly CFT dashboard and overall CFT administrative support systems like but not limited to NPSP, CFT work order system, website and volunteer management system are completed timely and running smoothly.
  • Run staff CFT meetings and ensure that annual calendar of CFT tasks is created, maintained and tasks are completed.
  • Oversee and support as needed SNAP volunteer program and efforts to recruit and place individual and group volunteers within SNAP programs.

Development:

  • Support and participate in efforts to cultivate and solicit major gifts prospects and donors.
  • Support and participate in CFT efforts to develop and implement a planned giving program.
  • Ensure continued development of SNAP’s stewardship and cultivation plan for donors and partners.
  • Oversee efforts for annual giving, special events, management of the donor database, community outreach, and volunteer coordination.

Communications:

  • Ensure that best practices are in place for the creation of relevant and innovative agency messages (print, web, social media, and talking points) which are consistent with the SNAP Mission, Vision, Values and brand.
  • Work with communications staff member to oversee a marketing/public relations strategy that will allow the agency to cultivate and enhance relationships with key audiences, including media and key influencers. Consult on subsidiary brand and marketing as required.
  • Ensure development of an annual media and communications plan that broadens awareness of SNAP’s efforts in the community including outreach events.
  • Work with coworkers and volunteers to promote a positive, respectful and productive working environment, while protecting client confidentiality and dignity.
  • Cover day time and after hours for communication requests including crisis communications.

Other

  • Within the context of the stated principal job duties, serve as ambassador and positive representative of SNAP’s mission and values.
  • Complete assigned projects and perform related duties as needed or situation dictates.
  • Create and maintain a position specific If I Win The Lotto notebook outlining how to complete routine position related tasks in preparation for transition/ succession.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times as well as help to grow the customer service culture within the agency.

Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Required: Some combination of education and experience related to philanthropy, communications or related fields totaling 12 years with a minimum of two years supervisory experience of staff / volunteers.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree with minimum of ten years’ relevant experience including two years of leadership and supervisory experience of staff / volunteers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of how to work with media.
  • Ability to serve as one of SNAP’s spokespeople.
  • Knowledge of how to work with volunteer groups.
  • Knowledge of outreach strategies.
  • Knowledge of or capacity to learn charitable giving and related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in computer operations, including word processing, spreadsheet, SharePoint, WordPress and database applications.
  • Ability to empathize with and advocate for low-income and vulnerable people, and to maintain confidentiality with personal information.
  • Experience successfully handling administrative team systems.

Training and Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, insurance, and personal vehicle for Agency business (mileage reimbursed)

Work Environment/Physical Activities:

Work is generally performed in an office setting, though will require local travel. Scheduling flexibility is required to accommodate evening, weekend, and unanticipated public relations needs. High degree of activity (e.g., errands, set-up, etc.) required around events.
